CBC News In Depth: Tech: Internet - Podcasts

CBC News In Depth: Tech: Internet - Podcasts: "Most of us of are busy people — we run from one event to another, multi-tasking madly, and this frenetic pace comes with benefits and costs. However, the toll these demands take on our ability to form well-reasoned opinions is one that's considerably under-appreciated. This can have consequences, not the least of which is the susceptibility to being blindly led by those who agree with our 'gut' feeling or are merely skilled at conveying their message."

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Digital Multimedia Broadcasting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is a digital radio transmission system for sending multimedia (radio, TV, and datacasting) to mobile devices such as mobile phones. This technology is an offshoot of DAB which was originally developed as a research project for the European Union (Eureka project number EU147). DMB was developed in South Korea under the national IT project and the world's first official DMB broadcast started in South Korea in 2005, although trials were available much earlier. It can operate via satellite (S-DMB) or terrestrial (T-DMB) transmission. DMB is based on the Eureka 147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) standard, and has some similarities with the main competing mobile TV standard, DVB-H."

. HIDDEN CITY:

One way to get a different perspective on any city is to see it through
the eyes of people who have disabilities. What's it like to get around
if you need a wheelchair, if you're blind, or if you suffer from mental
illness? What kind of help is available, from sidewalk ramps and
"singing traffic signals" to clinics and support services? This week on
Hidden City, host Nick Purdon looks at the disabled city. Head out with
him - and see the city in a whole new way. That's on Hidden City,
Saturday morning at 9:30 am (10 NT) on CBC Radio One.

Peter Gzowski: Voice of Canada - Life and Society - CBC Archives

Peter Gzowski: Voice of Canada - Life and Society - CBC Archives: "For three hours a day, five days a week – for 15 years – millions tuned in to CBC Radio's Morningside and Peter Gzowski. Despite Gzowski's dishevelled appearance, this beloved radio host cast his folksy charm across the country. When Gzowski died in 2002, Canadians paid tribute to the broadcaster whose stammering informality and comforting voice had become a symbol for Canada."
