CBC News: Microsoft sells control of MSNBC to partner NBC: "Microsoft Corp. said Friday it has sold a large chunk of all-news channel MSNBC to its partner NBC Universal.
Under the deal, NBC boosts its stake in the channel from 50 per cent to 82 per cent with an option to buy out Microsoft's remaining 18 per cent stake within two years. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


MSNBC has long lagged behind rivals Fox News Channel and CNN in the television ratings race. Rumours of unwinding the MSNBC partnership have been swirling for months. "
