Digital Multimedia Broadcasting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) is a digital radio transmission system for sending multimedia (radio, TV, and datacasting) to mobile devices such as mobile phones. This technology is an offshoot of DAB which was originally developed as a research project for the European Union (Eureka project number EU147). DMB was developed in South Korea under the national IT project and the world's first official DMB broadcast started in South Korea in 2005, although trials were available much earlier. It can operate via satellite (S-DMB) or terrestrial (T-DMB) transmission. DMB is based on the Eureka 147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) standard, and has some similarities with the main competing mobile TV standard, DVB-H."

These paintings, normally acrylic and oil on masonite, explore both the dignities, and the failures of man-made and natural structures, and draw whimsical parallels between what is sometimes thought to be two separate and colliding worlds. The style I have employed, of breaking up forms into shapes, is both of aesthetic interest to me to create a playful atmosphere, and an indication of the tendency of natural and technological structures to break apart and reformulate

TTC - Public Consultation: "What can I do? From August 27 to September 10, we are asking Torontonians what kind of TTC they want — for today, and for the future. You’ll find our survey online, and on buses, streetcars, and subways. We’ll be handing them out in a station or mall near you. We haven’t abandoned our vision for better transit, but riders have to choose. Will we support our transit system so that it is properly-funded and able to meet riders’ needs, or will we accept a TTC with less and less service? It’s a choice we have to make together"

. HIDDEN CITY:
One way to get a different perspective on any city is to see it through
the eyes of people who have disabilities. What's it like to get around
if you need a wheelchair, if you're blind, or if you suffer from mental
illness? What kind of help is available, from sidewalk ramps and
"singing traffic signals" to clinics and support services? This week on
Hidden City, host Nick Purdon looks at the disabled city. Head out with
him - and see the city in a whole new way. That's on Hidden City,
Saturday morning at 9:30 am (10 NT) on CBC Radio One.

Steve Munro’s Web Site Blog Archive Wheel Trans Woes: "the Wheel Trans system. For years, this “service” has been a distant second class operation within the TTC. It has all the earmarks of a service provided by the City not because it wants to, but because it has to. There are long-standing problems with the vehicles and with the dispatching system, some of which are only now being addressed."
