Assorted Nonsense “Q” The Arts And Culture Show and Tell: "We had a special recording from Margaret Atwood that we wanted to play during the show. It was Margaret telling Jian “not to mess up… the arts are important!” Unfortunately, the recording was done in stereo and we were using a mono computer program to play back audio material. Playing back a stereo file would require exiting the computer program and loading a stereo version of the program. I asked the studio director if there were any mono files that had to be played after the Atwood clip. He said no. So when the time came I exited the program, loaded the stereo program, and played the Atwood clip. It was about thirty seconds long. During the Atwood clip we learned that through some quirk of fate it would be necessary to play a mono file directly afterward. When the Atwood clip finished, I immediately got out of the stereo program and began loading the mono program. Jian began reading the intro to the stereo clip. Jian finished reading the intro to the mono clip. The mono program loaded at the exact same time, giving me one second to load the mono clip and fire it. Insanity! But it all sounded good on air… I think"

David Zancai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "David Zancai (born May 7, 1968[1][2][3]) is a street entertainer from Toronto, Ontario, in Canada. Zancai is known for his character Zanta: a modified Santa Claus that travels the streets of downtown Toronto doing pushups and shouting 'yes yes yes' and 'Merry Christmas'.[3] His costume consists of nothing but shorts, boots, and a red-and-white Santa hat, even during Toronto's harsh winters. He claims to perform this routine every day of the year except Christmas Day, and estimates he does 2,000 to 3,000 pushups per day.[2] Zanta receives mixed responses to his Zanta character, and has been banned from several public areas around Toronto, including the Toronto Transit Commission."

Ryerson Review of Journalism: "Late one morning last October, Carol Off, the new host of CBC Radio One’s evening flagship As It Happens, prepares to interview Zemedkun Teckle, spokesperson for the Ethiopia Ministry of Information. Ensconced in a recording studio in the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in downtown Toronto, she dons her headset. The wall behind her features a groovy 1970s AIH sign and photographs of past hosts such as Barbara Frum, Elizabeth Gray, Michael Enright and Mary Lou Finlay, who collectively have interviewed quirky oddballs alongside serious newsmakers for the past 39 years. Watching through a glass window in the control room, the producer and technician are thrilled with how clear the line is to Addis Ababa. Off has been to Africa many times as a reporter and knows from experience how to cover stories of war. Ethiopia has just sent military personnel into Somalia, ostensibly to train the fragile transitional government there. The goal is to prevent the Union of Islamic Courts, the group that has controlled the Somali capital of Mogadishu since June, from making headway into the country. Off is in her element."

CBC.CA - Seven Wonders of Canada - Your Nominations - Saugeen Shores Sunset, Ontario: "The people of Saugeen Shores, Lake Huron, wrote us in droves to tell us about the amazing sunsets in their neck of the woods. People in the area cite an old national geographic article as the reason there’s so much buzz about their sunsets. Upon closer investigation, no such article was ever proven to exist, but the sunsets speak for themselves. On summer evenings, locals and tourists end their day at Saugeen Shores with “ice cream and sunsets.” What could be more wonderful?"

Doctors were at a loss as to why she was born so small and told her parents this little miracle baby likely wouldn't live through the night. But she did.
She continued to defy doctors expectations and at the age of 8 months, Kenadie was finally diagnosed with primordial dwarfism, a genetic condition that is believed to affect only about 100 people in the world. My name is Adam Cohoon I am 24 years old. I moved to Toronto around five years ago. I live on Bloor Street in the Annex. I was born with cerebral palsy. I use an electric wheelchair to get around the city.
My short video is a sped up trip of my favourite strolling route through my neighbourhood. The route goes from my apartment building along Bloor to Bathurst then back along the other side of Bloor Street. All at an accelerated speed to turn a half an hour journey into a video of just a few minutes.
The video captures the route from my view I enjoy this route but the neighbourhood is not totally wheelchair accessible there some shops that has steps in order to get into them. Some of the curbs in the neighbourhood are steep too.
The video is also about how this neighbourhood has really influenced my love of the arts, whether it is visual, music, film or video. I have really come to enjoy them. I am constantly exposed to them right in my area and just grew to really appreciate them.
In the video I also add my sense of humour. Throughout"
